Cases with lift off lids or removable lids are best for designs with either a large lid, or where a relatively large foam insert is present in the lid to provide the best protection to the equipment. Since the lids can be removed upwards and not from an angle like a hinged lid would be, there is a complete freedom in lid size and foam insert design in the case. Cases with a large removable lid is often used for large hand heavy equipment so that once the lid is removed, the equipment inside can be easily accessed if they need to be moved out of the case, or they can be used while sitting on the low profile bottom case without having to lift it out.
